WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The ninth-ranked Purdue women's golf team is the No. 4 seed in the NCAA West Regional at the Stanford Golf Course in Palo Alto, Calif. The 54-hole tournament begins Thursday and concludes Saturday, with the top eight teams from the 24-team field advancing to the NCAA Championships on May 21 to 24 in Athens, Ga.

The Boilermakers are coming off a tie for their sixth conference tournament title at the Big Ten Championships in French Lick, Ind.

Purdue is paired with the host team No. 5 seed Stanford and No. 6 seed Georgia in the first round. The Bulldogs are trying to secure a trip to the NCAA Championships which will be played on their home course. The teams' five golfers will tee off from hole No. 10 beginning at 11:36 a.m. ET.

Seniors Laura Gonzalez-Escallon, Paula Reto and Kishi Sinha, sophomore Aurora Kan and freshman Margaux Vanmol are competing for Purdue.

Reto is the Boilermakers' highest-ranked individual at No. 21 according to Golfweek. The senior from South Africa won the Big Ten Championships individual title, the sixth-straight for Purdue, with a four-under par 212. Gonzalez-Escallon is ranked No. 67 by Golfweek, while Sinha is just outside the top 100 at 110. Kan and Vanmol are both playing well during the championship season.

Top-ranked Southern California is the top seed in the West Regional. The Trojans won this year's Pac-12 tournament championship and won the NCAA Championships in 2008.

The remainder of the 24-team field includes fifth-ranked Arizona, No. 8 Vanderbilt, No. 11 Stanford, No. 18 Georgia, No. 21 Baylor, No. 27 Texas A&M, No. 29 Pepperdine (WCC), No. 28 LSU, No. 33 Denver (WAC), No. 34 South Carolina, No. 44 Ohio State, No. 41 Oregon, No. 48 UNLV, No. 50 California, No. 40 Florida State, Miami (Fla.), San Jose State, Harvard (Ivy), Kent State (MAC), Northern Arizona (Big Sky), North Dakota State (Summit) and Long Island (Northeast). Conference automatic qualifiers are indicated in parentheses next to the institution and rankings are from the most recent Golfweek/Sagarin Ratings.

Six golfers will compete as individuals in each regional and the individuals invited to the West Regional are Laura Wearn of Furman, Jennifer Coleman from Colorado, Sammi Stevens (New Mexico), A Ram Choi (Portland State), Luciane Lee (UC-Irvine) and Michelle Park (UC-Irvine).
