WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue junior Aurora Kan continues her postseason pursuits tomorrow (Thursday) as she tees off at the 2014 NCAA Central Women's Golf Regional Championships in Stillwater, Okla. The three-day, 54-hole event will be hosted by Oklahoma State University at the par-72, 6,200-yard Karsten Creek Golf Club, beginning at 7:30 a.m. (CT).
Kan is one of six individuals to advance to the regional event, and will play the first day of competition with two other solo qualifiers in Ball State's Jenna Hague and Texas Christian's Sanna Nuutinen. The threesome is scheduled to tee off at 8:25 a.m. (CT), on Karsten Creek's first hole, following five groups comprised of players from Florida, North Carolina and Ohio State.
The top eight teams from each of the three regional tournaments will advance to the NCAA Championships, scheduled for May 20-23 in Tulsa, Okla., in addition to the top-two individual finishers at each regional not playing on a qualifying team. Kan has played in the last two national championships as part of Boilermaker team contingents, and tied for 15th at the 2013 NCAA Championships with a five-over, 72-hole score of 292.
In 11 events and 30 rounds during the 2013-14 season, Kan has averaged 74.2 strokes per round with four scores of par or better. She's won a trio of tournaments, placed in the top-10 five times and in the top-20 nine times, posting a season- and career-best round of 68 at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic en route to a season- and career-best 54-hole total of 211. She's earned a trio of Big Ten Player of the Week honors and continued a streak of 10-straight years with a Boilermaker on the first team all-conference list.
