WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue women's golf junior Aurora Kan was selected for an individual bid to the NCAA Central Regional Championship Monday night, advancing to the postseason for the third time in her career and the first time as an individual. The NCAA Central Regional is set for Thursday through Saturday, May 8-10 at the Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Okla., hosted by Oklahoma State University.
Kan is one of six individuals to qualify in the Central Region, and one of three from the Big Ten Conference. Ohio State and Minnesota both qualified as teams in the region, while Illinois' Ember Schuldt and Stephanie Miller join Kan in individual status. Kan is ranked 48th in the most recent Golfstat.com individual rankings and 64th nationally by GolfWeek.com.
Tee times and pairings for regional action will be announced next week as the Karsten Creek Golf Club is a par-72, 6,200-yard course, most recently hosting the 2011 NCAA Championships, in addition to the 2009 South Central Regional, the 2008 Big 12 Championships and the 2033 NCAA Championships. Just two individual qualification spots for the NCAA Championships, set for May 20-23 at Tulsa Country Club in Tulsa, Okla., are up for grabs in Stillwater.
