WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The seventh-ranked Purdue women's golf team will compete in its final regular-season event when they play host to the Ladies Midwest Shootout at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex Kampen Course on April 11. The one-day 36-hole event will feature six teams from the state of Indiana and will give the Boilermakers an opportunity to play the 6,333-yard, par-72 Kampen Course before hosting the Big Ten Women's Golf Championships on April 24 to 26.
Among the Hoosier colleges in the field are Ball State, Butler, DePauw, Franklin, University of Indianapolis and IUPUI. No. 22 Kent State, Cincinnati, Vanderbilt and Western Michigan round out the remaining 11-team field. No. 22 Kent State is the only other team besides Purdue ranked in the top 25 of the latest Golfweek/Sagarin performance index.
Purdue is coming off a second place showing at the PING/ASU Invitational on April 5. Senior Maria Hernandez took home her second consecutive individual title and fourth of the season. The two-time first team All-American shot a 54-hole score of 211 (-5), earning her the third Big Ten Golfer of the Week award this season.
Also competing for the Boilermakers this weekend will be sophomores Thea Hoffmeister and Maude-Aimee LeBlanc. Both LeBlanc and Hoffmeister are averaging under 74 strokes per round this season and have finished in the top 25 of an event at least five times.
Sophomore Junthima Gulyanamitta, freshman Vaishavi Sinha and redshirt senior Carolyn Mess round out Purdue's six-player roster.
The 36-holes of continuous play will get underway with a shotgun start beginning at 8 a.m. ET. on Saturday.
