WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women’s golf team continues the spring campaign in warmer climates this weekend, heading to the Dallas Athletic Club/Southern Methodist University (SMU) Invitational for a three-day, 54-hole tournament. The Mustangs host the event at the Dallas Athletic Club, playing a par-72, 6,264-yard course that’s set to start Friday at 8 a.m. (CT).

The Boilermakers played in a pair of tournaments during a 10-day spring break trip through the Southeast U.S., tying for eighth place at the 3M Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate in Augusta, Ga., and taking fifth place at the LSU Tiger Classic in Baton Rouge, La. Junior Aurora Kan led the charge once again, tying for 17th in Augusta before turning in a fourth-place effort at LSU. Freshman August Kim came on during the trip, turning in two of her top rounds of the year, and looks to settle in and string three together this weekend.

Joining Kan and Kim on the trip are sophomores Anna Appert Lund and Brooke Beegle and freshman Ashley Yarbrough. Appert Lund looks to continue improving after joining the Boilermakers in January, and has averaged approximately 76 strokes per round since her arrival, while Beegle rejoins the team lineup for the first time this spring after playing in four team events in the fall. Yarbrough is set for her first appearance in the Boilermaker lineup, after making her Purdue debut as an individual at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in February.

Returning event champion Oklahoma State leads the field, entering the weekend ranked 14th in the Golfstat.com rankings. Other top opponents in the tournament include No. 19 Wake Forest and No. 20 LSU, while Big Ten foes Iowa and Nebraska will take the course as well. This weekend marks the Boilermakers’ first-ever appearance in the event and their first time playing in Texas since the 2011 NCAA Championships, where Purdue finished as national runners-up.

Play begins Friday at 8 a.m. (CT), while Yarbrough will be the first Boilermaker out of the clubhouse at 8:45 a.m. on Hole No. 1. Results will be available at Golfstat.com.
