WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women's golf squad continues its spring break trip on Friday, heading to Baton Rouge, La., for the LSU Tiger Classic. The University Club is a par-72, 6,215-yard venue as the Boilermakers return to the tournament after a one-year absence.
Last time out the Boilermakers recovered from a rocky start to earn an eighth-place tie at the 3M Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate in Augusta, Ga. Purdue's play improved in each round, finishing at 321-309-300=930, led by junior Aurora Kan's 13-over, 225, which was good for 17th place individually. Sophomore Anna Appert Lund showed solid recovery in the tournament, improving three strokes in both the second and third rounds and looking to continue low scores this weekend.
Purdue will feature the same lineup this weekend as at the Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate as Kan and Appert Lund will be joined by junior Johanna Tillström, sophomore Vinh-Hoa Ngo and freshman August Kim. The event features a 15-team field, led by fourth-ranked Tiger Classic defending champion Arkansas, and also includes No. 16 Central Florida and the 17th-ranked host LSU. The rest of the field is comprised of Baylor, Denver, Kentucky, Louisiana-Monroe, Missouri, Notre Dame, SMU, TCU, Tulane, UNCW and UTSA.
