AUSTIN, Texas - A strong first day at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational finds the Boilermakers women's golf team in fourth place overall, just four strokes behind tournament-host Texas.

The Boilermakers shot a combined 19-over par for day one. Texas shot a combined 15-over par to set the pace, while Arkansas and TCU finished in a tie for second with 18-over par.

Purdue was paced by three individuals in the top 20. Sophomore Christel Boeljon led the way for the Boilermakers, shooting a 1-over-par 73, putting her in a tie for third place, five shots off the pace.

Meanwhile, freshman Stefanie Endstrasser shot a 3-over 75, good for a share of seventh place through day one. Sophomore Maria Hernandez carded a 5-over 77, to put here in a six-way tie for 18th place.

Boilermaker senior Myrte Eikenaar shot a 10-over 82 to put her in 56th place while fellow senior Caroline Haase carded a 14-over 86 to put her in 80th place overall.

Meanwhile, sophomore Stephanie Oukeo shot a nine-over par 81, although she is playing only as an individual, meaning her score will not count toward the team title.

Play continues through the weekend in Austin, Texas, at the University of Texas Golf Club, with 18-holes both Saturday and Sunday. For updates, check back with www.purduesports.com and for live scoring, log on to www.GolfStat.com.
