WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women's golf team will defend its title at the Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate on March 16 to 18 at the Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Ga., hosted by Augusta State. The Boilermakers shot an 859 in 2011 to capture the team title and Paula Reto was the individual runner-up, at the time her best career finish.
Purdue is currently No. 32 in the Golfweek rankings and is part of a 14-team field that includes host Augusta State, Arkansas-Little Rock, Charleston Southern, East Tennessee State, Indiana, Kennesaw State, Lamar, Memphis, South Alabama, Southern Mississippi, Texas-San Antonio, Troy and Western Carolina.
The Boilermakers will tee off on hole No. 1 beginning at 9:30 a.m. ET and are paired with Augusta State and Texas-San Antionio. The lineup for Purdue includes three juniors: Laura Gonzalez-Escallon, Reto and Kishi Sinha and two freshmen: Kendall Dusenberry and Aurora Kan. .
Gonzalez-Escallon is ranked in the top 20 as an individual, moving up to No. 19 with a tie for seventh at the LSU Tiger Golf Classic on March 11. Reto is No. 33 and is the only other Boilermaker ranked in the top 50.
The Forest Hills Golf Club will play as a par-72, 6,248-yard venue for the three-day, 54-hole event. Live scoring is available at Golfstat.com and daily recaps will be posted to purduesports.com.
