WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The 16th-ranked Purdue women's golf team wraps up spring break at the 2013 Insperity Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Ga.
Forest Hills Golf Club is the home course for August State and will be set up as a par-72, 6,214-yard venue for the tournament.
The Boilermakers are competing in the Lady Jaguar Intecollegiate for the third time. Purdue won the team title in 2011 with a tournament record score of 859. Last season, Paula Reto won the individual medal, recording a three-round total of 207 (-9). Reto fired a tournament-record, eight-under 64 in the final round March 18, 2012, to win by 10 strokes.
Augusta State is the tournament host and along with the Boilermakers is part of a record field of 18 teams. No. 9 Vanderbilt is the highest ranked team, followed by Purdue. No. 22 Texas, No. 26 Notre Dame, No. 34 Kentucky, Charleston Souther, Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, East Tennessee State, Georgia State, Illinois, Kennesaw State, Lamar, Maryland, Memphis, Southern Mississippi and defending champions UT San Antonio round out the field.
Purdue head coach Devon Brouse will direct a veteran squad of seniors Laura Gonzalez-Escallon, Paula Reto and Kishi Sinha, sophomore Aurora Kan and freshman Margaux Vanmol. Freshman Brooke Beegle will compete as an individual.
Purdue will tee off in the three-day, 54-hole event beginning at 10:20 a.m. ET from hole No. 1 on Friday and will paired with Augusta State and Vanderbilt. Live scoring will be available at golfstatresults.com.
