WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue senior Paula Reto was named Big Ten Golfer of the Week on Thursday, after recording a one-under par 215 for a fourth place finish at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Grande, P.R.
Reto earns her second conference weekly award of the season for the sixth in her career. The Cape Town, South Africa, native has been Purdue's top finisher in four tournaments this season, including winning the individual title at the Mercedes Benz Collegiate Championships in October.
Reto is ranked No. 28 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings and is leading Purdue with a season stroke average of 72.15.
At the Lady Puerto Rico Classic, Reto opened with a 75, but rebounded with two-consecutive rounds of two-under par 70s. She was one of only four golfers in the 15-team field to finish below par for the three-round event.
The last weekly award for Reto was Oct. 17, 2012, after she won the Mercedes Benz Championship.
Reto and the rest of the head coach Devon Brouse's Boilermakers return to action at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Golf Classic on Feb. 24 to 26 in New Orleans. Live scoring will be available on golfstat.com.
