WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue senior Paula Reto shot a 71 for the second straight day at the Liz Murphey Fall Preview to move into second place with a two-under par 142. The No. 2/9 Boilermakers shot a 301 on Saturday and are in 14th place as a team with a two-round total of 601 (300-301).
No. 13 Auburn (287-293=580) continues to lead the field, while defending national champion Alabama has moved up to second after recording a 289 for a total of 585. North Carolina also fired a 289 on Saturday and is in third place with a team score of 586.
The individual leader is Auburn's Marta Sanz, who shot a three-under par 69 in the second round and with a four-under par 140, has a two-stroke lead over Reto with 18 holes remaining.
Senior Kishi Sinha recorded Purdue's second lowest round of the day with a 75 and is tied for 55th with a total of 152. Classmate Laura Gonzalez-Escallon is tied for 59th at 153 after carding a 79 on Saturday.
The Boilermakers were tied for 12th coming into the second round and have the final round Sunday to improve their placing.
The 54-hole tournament is being held at the University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens, Ga., which is set up as a 6,335-yard, par-72 venue for the event. The tournament offers the 18-team field an opportunity to compete on the course that will serve as the site for the 2013 NCAA Championships.
