HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. - The Purdue women's golf team finished 12th in their first team event of the season, the Windy City Collegiate Classic, hosted by Northwestern University at Northmoor Country Club on Monday and Tuesday. The Boilermakers turned in a three-round total of 901 (299-295-307), led by junior Aurora Kan's score of 218 (73-72-73).
After rebounding in yesterday's second round to climb to a tie for ninth place in the team standings, Tuesday proved a tougher course for the Boilermakers as all five players marked their worst score of the tournament. The back-nine of Northmoor Country Club proved the toughest for the Old Gold and Black as they were able to make just three birdies there on the day.
Kan was steady throughout the tournament, shooting just above par in each of the three rounds, including a +2, 73 on Tuesday to tie for 18th in the individual standings. Sophomore Vinh-Hoa Ngo was the next individual finisher, turning in a 224 (76-72-76), followed by junior Johanna Tillström at 229 (74-77-78) and freshman August Kim at 230 (76-74-80).
The Boilermakers return to action next week, heading to Indianapolis for the Butler Invitational at Highland Country Club.
