Women's Golf Places Second at Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Purdue women's golf team placed as runner-up at the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational hosted by Ohio State. The Boilermakers, who were in second place at the conclusion of the first two rounds yesterday, finished up with a cumulative score of 306 on the final round of play to total a 907. The host Buckeyes won the 54-hole tournament with an 881. Wisconsin (919), Penn State (936) and Northwestern (941) rounded out the top five.

Junior Angie Blythe led the Boilermakers with a 223 to tie for third. Blythe was just nine strokes off the medalist, Bethany Overstake of Ohio State. Classmate Lisa Kenley was close behind with a 227, tying for fifth. Sophomore Stacy Orschell tied for seventh with a 228, while senior Colleen Cashman shot a 231 to tie for ninth. Juniors Johanna Gollings and Rebecca Burkhart both tied for 30th with scores of 242.

This was Purdue's final tune-up before the Big Ten Championship tournament, which will beheld May 1-3 at Penn State.
