WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The No. 11/14 Purdue women's golf team has a five-stroke lead with one round to play at the web.com Intercollegiate at the Marsh Landing Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.

Purdue shot a 290 in the opening round, followed by 284 in the afternoon wave for a 574 and a five-stroke lead over second-place Iowa State (289-290=579). Texas Tech, coached by former Boilermaker assistant JoJo Robertson is in third place with a two-round team score of 580.

The Boilermakers were led by seniors Laura Gonzalez-Escallon and Paula Reto who are tied for second place after carding 142s on Monday. They duo trail Texas Tech's Gabriella Dominguez who holds the lead at 139 (69-70, -5). Gonzalez-Escallon opened with an even-par 72 and then tied for team-low round with a 70 in round two. Reto shot 71 in both rounds on Monday. Boilermaker freshman Margaux Vanmol is tied for 12th place at 145. She shot a 72, followed by a 73 in the afternoon.

Sophomore Aurora Kan shot a 70 in the second round, tying Gonzalez-Escallon for team-low honors and is tied for 18th after starting with a 76 for a total of 146. Redshirt senior Kishi Sinha is tied for 60th with a 153 (75-78) and freshman Brooke Beegle is competing as an individual and is tied for 53rd after recording a 152 (75-77).

Purdue head coach Devon Brouse has led the Boilermakers to two tournament victories already this season, most recently in the last outing for Purdue on March 17 at the Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate.

 

 

Jacksonville University is serving as the host for the web.com Intercollegiate, partnering with East Carolina and Central Florida at the par-72, 6,056-yard Marsh Landing Country Club.

Twenty teams are participating in the tournament, with No. 11 Purdue the highest ranked team in the field. No. 16 Texas Tech, No. 29 Iowa State, No. 43 Florida State, No. 44 Central Florida and No. 49 East Carolina are all in the top 50 according the Golfweek. Charleston Southern, Chattanooga, Cincinnati, Daytona State College, Florida International, Illinois, Jacksonville, James Madison, Kennesaw State, Maryland, Michigan, North Florida, Sam Houston State and Stetson round out the field.

The Boilermakers will tee off Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. ET in a shotgun start and will be paired with Florida International, Iowa State and Texas Tech.
