DALLAS, Texas – After two days of competition, the Purdue women’s golf team is tied for 13th place at the Dallas Athletic Club/Southern Methodist University (SMU) Invitational. The Boilermakers shot a second-round 312 on Saturday, led by junior Aurora Kan’s three-over, 75, and have a total score of 627 heading into the third and final day.


 Kan’s round was very consistent, making 12 pars, gaining strokes on No. 6 and No. 12, while giving a few back on No. 1, No. 9, No. 14 and No. 17. Sophomore Anna Appert Lund turned in Saturday’s second-best score for the Boilermakers, posting a four-over, 76, while freshman August Kim rebounded from a tough opening round to record a six-over, 78. Sophomore Brooke Beegle and freshman Ashley Yarbrough tied for the final team mark of the day at 11-over, 83.


Kan and Appert Lund are tied for 23rd overall in the individual standings at nine-over for the tournament, while Kim, Yarbrough and Beegle are all tied for 76th at 19-over. Baylor remains atop the leaderboard at 15-over, 591, while LSU is four shots back at 19-over 595 and North Carolina is third at 21-over, 597. North Carolina’s Elizabeth Mallett has a strong hold on the individual lead at three-under, 141, owning a five-shot lead on the field.


Play concludes tomorrow opening with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. (CT), as the Boilermakers open play on the back side at holes 14 through 16. Live results continue to be available at Golfstat.com.
