DALLAS, Texas - The Purdue women’s golf team is in 12th place at the Dallas Athletic Club/Southern Methodist University (SMU) Invitational after the first round of play on Friday at the Dallas Athletic Club. Sophomore Anna Appert Lund turned in the Boilermakers’ top individual score at five-over, 77 and is tied for 27th place overall.
Appert Lund got off to a tough start, shooting five-over on her first five holes, before rebounding with birdies on No. 6, 12 and 18 to even out her round and lead the Boilermakers. Junior Aurora Kan offered the squad’s next-best score at 78, while sophomore Ashley Yarbrough and sophomore Brooke Beegle marked the final team scores at eight-over, 80 to round out the Boilermaker’s total.
Baylor leads the team score at 294, while Kansas’ Yupaporn Kawinpakorn leads the individual standing with a one-under, 71. LSU is seven shots back at 301, while defending champion Oklahoma State is 11 shots back at 305.
