  • ATHENS, Ga. - The sixth-ranked Purdue women's golf team fired a 302 (+14) in Friday's opening round of the 36th annual Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic at the University of Georgia Golf Course. The Boilermakers are tied with Alabama and Georgia for second place.

No. 20 LSU earned the first-round lead in the 18-team field after posting an opening round 297 (+9). The Lady Tigers are five strokes ahead of the second place teams. Rounding out the top 10 teams are Kent State and Auburn (T-5, 303), Arkansas (7th, 305), Tennessee and Wake Forest (T-8, 309), and Duke and Virginia (T-10, 314).

Megan McChrystal of LSU posted the low individual score on Friday with a three-under 69. Central Florida's Stephanie Connelly is in second place after carding a one-under 71.

For Purdue, junior Christel Boeljon and freshman Maude-Aimee Leblanc lead the way and were two of the six individuals to shoot a two-over par 74, good for a tie for fifth place.
