WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The 15th-ranked Purdue women's golf team won its second tournament of the year and the first this spring behind a season-low round of 68 by senior Paula Reto. The Boilermakers overtook No. 9 Vanderbilt with a team score of 290 on Sunday, for a one-stroke victory at the Insperity Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate in Augusta, Ga. Purdue finished at 876 (295-291-290) to Vanderbilt's 877 (290-293-294).

No. 26 Notre Dame was third with a total score of 888 and No. 22 Texas was fourth at 899. Augusta State, the host team, finished in fifth place at 906. Notre Dame's Ashley Armstrong won the individual title by two strokes over Reto by carding a 70 in the final round for a total of 215.

It is the second team title for Purdue in three tries at the Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate at Forest Hills Golf Club. The Boilermakers won the event in 2011 and finished third last season.

Four Boilermakers finished in the top 10 as individuals and all five members of Purdue's team finished in the top 40.

It truly was a team effort on the final day for the win. In addition to Reto's 68, freshman Margaux Vanmol shot a 73, Laura Gonzalez-Escallon carded a 74, sophomore Aurora Kan recorded her lowest round of the tournament with a 75 and Kishi Sinha fired a 77.

Reto was the defending medalist at the Lady Jaguar, and after opening with an 80, shot 69-68 for a total of 217 and a second-place finish. Gonzalez-Escallon (71-76-74=221, +5) and Vanmol (73-75-73=221) tied for seventh and Sinha (74-71-77=222, +6) tied for ninth.

Kan moved up to a tie for 38th place with a 231 (77-79-75). Freshman Brooke Beegle was competing as an individual and tied for 56th after firing a 79 on Sunday for a total score of 237 (83-75-79).

Purdue has two tournaments remaining before the Big Ten Championships at French Lick, Ind., on April 26 to 28. The Boilermakers' next tournament is April 8 and 9 at the Marsh Landing Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla.
