AUGUSTA, Ga. - The Purdue women's golf team sits in 10th place after the first day of competition at the 3M Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate, hosted by GRU Augusta at Forest Hills Golf Club on Friday. The Boilermakers posted a team score of 321 (+33), as none of the 14 teams at the tournament finished within 10 strokes of par, while the individual leader sits at 73, one-over par.
Friday's course proved tough for everyone involved as 14th-ranked tournament leader Vanderbilt mustered a team score of 299, 11-over par, while second place belongs to East Tennessee State at 309, 21-over par. Junior Aurora Kan posted the highest individual score for the Boilermakers, sitting four shots off the lead at 77, five-over par, while sophomore Anna Appert Lund recorded the next lowest Purdue round at 80, eight-over par.
Sophomore Vinh-Hoa Ngo made her season-debut for the Old Gold and Black, shooting an 82, 10-over par, which was matched by junior Johanna Tillström to account for the four individual Purdue scores. Sophomore Brooke Beegle played unattached, posting a matching round of 82, while freshman August Kim was three shots back at 85.
Action resumes tomorrow morning, as they will play 36 holes tomorrow and wrap-up the tournament due to the threat of inclement weather on Sunday.
