Purdue in Second at Boilermaker Invitational
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Led by Heather Hasselberg and Stacy Orschell, the Purdue women's golf team in second place after one round of the Boilermaker Invitational. Purdue, which shot a 313, trails big Ten rival and last year's champion Michigan, which shot a 306. Missouri is in third with a 316.
Hasselberg, a junior, and Orschell, a freshman, both shot 77s in the first round of play. They are tied with three other players for second place. The top spot is held by the Wolverines' Molly Vandenbark who shot a one over par 73.
Purdue's Colleen Cashman contributed a solid round, as well. The junior is tied for seventh with a 78. Freshman Kelly Beth Simmons is tied for 17th with an 81, while sophomores Angie Blythe and Johanna Gollings are tied for 22nd and 29th, respectively.
The second round of the annual Boiler maker Invitational, played on Purdue's South Golf Course, was cancelled due to cold weather. The final round will begin tomorrow (April 13) with a 10 a.m. shotgun start.
