Golfers Set to Challenge in Snowbird Intercollegiate

The Purdue women's golf team will play in the 11th annual Northern Illinois/The Fairway Network Snowbird Intercollegiate tournament in Tampa, Fla., on March 13-14. The tournament will be played at the Pebblecreek Golf and Country Club, a par-72 course covering 5,940 yards. A total of 18 teams will be competing in the event.

The Boilers have played in one tournament this spring at Texas A&M. In that 18-team field, the Boilers placed sixth. In order to improve on that finish, Purdue will need quality contributions from sophomore Angie Blythe and junior Colleen Cashman. Blythe had the Boilers lowest average (77) last fall, while Cashman was second-best with an average of 77.9.

Freshman Stacy Orschell has been a pleasant addition to the Boilermaker roster. The rookie was Purdue's highest finished in the Texas A&M invitational, placing in a tie for 15th after shooting a 239 in the 54-hole tournament. Fellow freshman Kelly Beth Simmons and sophomore Johanna Gollings are likely to round out the Boiler Five at the Snowbird Intercollegiate.
