WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Connie Murdock, a 6-2 forward on the Purdue women’s basketball team, asked for and was granted her release from the program today by head coach Kristy Curry. The release, which terminates Murdock’s National Letter-of-Intent signed in November of 1997, is effective immediately. Murdock, a junior, will have one year of eligibility remaining upon her transfer to another school.
“It is not easy to lose anyone from your program, but we want Connie to be happy,” Curry said. “We wish her the best of luck as she pursues her options and continues her career.”
A native of South Bend, Ind., Murdock played in a reserve role for the Boilermakers. She appeared in 18 games as a freshman, 17 as a sophomore and two in the 1999-2000 campaign. She averaged 1.8 points and 1.1 rebounds per game through her career.
Murdock was an Indiana All-Star at Clay High School in South Bend. She averaged 14.8 points, 12.0 rebounds, 3.5 blocked shots, 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game as a senior, and graduated the school record holder in points (1,076), rebounds (963) and blocked shots (319).
