The Series: Purdue trails the all-time series with Stanford, 3-6
The Rankings: Purdue is ranked 18th by the Associated Press and 22nd in the ESPN/USA Today Division I Coaches' Poll. Stanford is ranked sixth by the Associated Press and fifth in the ESPN/USA Today Division I Coaches' Poll.
Stanford enters the week at 4-1, fresh off a 63-54 win at Texas on Saturday. The Cardinal are led by head coach Tara VanDerveer, who enters the week just two wins shy of her 900th career win. Stanford senior Chiney Ogwumike is one of the nation's best players, averaging 25.6 points and 11.8 rebounds per game, shooting a robust 57% from the field. Also standing out for the Cardinal is junior point guard Amber Orrange, who chips in 14 points, 5.6 rebounds and four assists per game.
The Boilermakers are playing outside the U.S. Borders for the third straight season, playing in the 2013 Hardwood Tournament of Hope in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Purdue played in Cancun, Mexico in 2011, and in the U.S. Virgin Islands in 2012.
Purdue's 81-79 victory at Toledo on Sunday was the 750th win in program history. The Boilermakers are one of just 37 programs nationwide to accomplish the feat and are the third team in the Big Ten to reach the milestone.
The Boilermakers had a season-high four players score in double figures in their last outing, neither of them named Moses or Houser. Ashley Morrissette and Camille Redmon had career-high scoring outputs at 12 and 10 points, respectively, while Redmon added a career-high eight rebounds. April Wilson had her first double-figure scoring game of the year with 11 points and junior Whitney Bays had her fourth straight double-digit game with 10 points. Torrie Thornton chipped in as well with a career-high nine rebounds.
Over the first four games of the season, Purdue has outscored its opponent's benches, 117-73, including 13.8 points per game from Whitney Bays.
KK Houser is averaging 15.5 points per game this season, remaining 28 points shy of 1,000 for her career. Houser had a 14-game streak of double-figure scoring snapped against Belmont.
Passing the Teacher
With two steals at Toledo, Houser surpassed head coach Sharon Versyp for 12th in Purdue history. With three more steals against Belmont she's now one shy of becoming the 12th Boilermaker to grab 200 career steals.
Purdue is ranked for the 70th time in their last 73 games, sitting 18th in the AP Poll and 22nd in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches' Poll.
