WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -

Scouting The Boilermakers
Purdue is ranked 21st in the most recent AP poll and the equivalent of 26th in the USA Today/ESPN coaches poll. The Boilermakers are coming off a 80-44 victory over IUPUI on Nov. 16, which gave Purdue its seventh-consecutive season-opening victory - the longest consecutive season-opening win streak in school history.

In that game, the Boilermakers dominated from beyond the arc sinking eight three-pointers, more than any single-game last season. Using firepower from outside, Purdue put together a 14-0 first half run to end the first half with 45 points, topping any first half point total from last season.

The season opener also marked the return for senior Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton and junior Jodi Howell, both of whom missed the 2007-08 season due to injury. Against the Jaguars, Wisdom-Hylton recorded her 13th-career double-double, scoring 16 points and recording 11 rebounds. Howell also put together an impressive game, shooting three of four from beyond the three-point line, finishing with 11 points in just 15 minutes of play.

Scouting The Pilots
Portland enters Mackey Arena with a 1-1 record after topping Utah State 64-51 in its season-opener on Nov. 14 and falling to Boise State 59-68 on Nov. 16.

The Pilots' high scorer for both of those games was West Coast Conference preseason all-conference team selection, Laiken Dollente, who is averaging 19.5 points per game through the first week of the season. Dollente scored 18 points against Utah State and 21 points versus Boise State. Dollente has also proven she is steady from the free-throw line, after finishing second in the country in free throw percentage last season and hitting 10 of her 12 shots in Portland's first two games.

Portland's second-high scorer through the beginning of the season has been sophomore Lauren Angel. Angel has scored in double digits in both games recording 14 points versus Utah State and 10 points at Boise State.

As a team, Portland will look to improve on its .380 field goal percentage and add to its already impressive +11 turnover margin.

The Series
This is the second meeting between Purdue and Portland. The last time these two teams met was in the first round of the 1995 NCAA Tournament. The 15th-ranked Boilermakers topped the Pilots 74-59 in the West Region, eventually advancing to the NCAA Elite Eight before being eliminated by Stanford.

Dominant Defense
In Purdue's 80-44 victory against IUPUI on Nov. 16, the Boilermakers limited Jaguar shooters to a 19.4 percent (7-36) from the field in the first half and a 24.2 (16-66) percentage overall. Purdue also allowed only one Jaguar player to score more than two field goals, as Jernisha Cann scored 17 points on 6 of 17 field goals.

Blocking Into The Record Books
Senior center Danielle Campbell recorded four blocks against IUPUI, moving her into a tie for seventh-place on Purdue's all-time career blocks list with 129. She is tied with former Boilermaker Shereka Wright.

Season Opener Success
The Boilermakers' 36-point margin victory against IUPUI tied for the second-highest total in a season-opening game at Mackey Arena. It was also Purdue's 19th-straight win in a season opener in Mackey Arena and moves head coach Sharon Versyp to 3-0 all-time in season-opening games.

Mackey Magic
- Purdue is 331-102 (.764) all-time in Mackey Arena.
- Purdue is 170-51 (.769) in Big Ten home games.
- Purdue is 127-16 (.888) in Mackey in the last 10 years, including 12-4 in 2007-08.

Fan-tastic
- Purdue's biggest home crowd last season was 12,592 against Northwestern on Jan. 20, a 52-38 victory for the Boilermakers.
- Purdue averaged 8,873 fans per home game in 2007-08, ranking fifth in the nation, an improvement of three spots from the previous year. The Boilermakers have finished in the top 10 in national attendance for 13 straight years and it was the fourth time Purdue has finished in the top five in national attendance.

Marvelous Mioton
Senior Lauren Mioton from New Orleans, La., continues to add to her already impressive resume. The reserve point guard was crowned as Purdue's homecoming queen on Oct. 24. She is the first Purdue women's basketball player to win the honor. Mioton also is a finalist for the Rhodes Scholarship and will be producing another cookbook as a fundraiser for the wetlands preservation in the New Orleans area. Last season, with the assistance of the BOILERmaker NETwork, she was able to donate over $8,000 to the Lake Ponchartrain Basin Foundation. Mioton's most recent honor is being named one of five collegiate finalists for the Coach Wooden Citizenship Cup.

Impressive Results
This summer, the strength part of Purdue's speed, strength and conditioning program was emphasized and conditioning coordinator Ron Thomson saw impressive results. Junior FahKara Malone set the all-time record for the power clean, maxing out at 83 kg. (182.6 lbs.), while 10 current Boilermakers recorded 60 kg. (132 lbs.) or higher. Freshman Chantel Poston set the Purdue women's basketball record in the squat with 300 pounds. She also turned in a 20-yard sprint time of 2. 77 seconds and a one-step vertical leap of 30 inches.
