ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Big Ten Conference released the television schedule for the 2013-14 season on Tuesday, unveiling the 10 national appearance for the Purdue women's basketball team. The Boilermakers will play on the Big Ten Network (BTN) eight times and on the ESPN family of networks twice, in addition to several other web-streamed appearances.
"It's a great thing for our team and the Big Ten Conference to have so many national TV appearances," said Purdue head coach Sharon Versyp. "There's no substitute for that kind of national exposure for your program, and now we just have to go make the most out of our opportunities in the spotlight."
The Boilermakers' first opportunity to play on national television will come Jan. 6, against archrival Indiana on the BTN, followed by an ESPN2 appearance at Penn State on Jan. 12. The Old Gold and Black will have six straight BTN games from Jan. 19 to Feb. 2, and after a one-game absence on the network, return to the BTN airwaves for a Feb. 9 tilt at Michigan. The conference slate will close on Feb. 23 and March 2, playing on the BTN at home against Wisconsin and hosting Nebraska on ESPN2, respectively.
In addition to the 10 nationally televised games, the Big Ten Digital Network (BTDN) will pick up six other opportunities to watch Purdue women's basketball, while Boilermaker All-Access will feature three other opportunities. The Boilermakers' exhibition tilt against Clarke University on Nov. 3 will be on the BTDN, in addition to non-conference matchups against Ball State on Nov. 10, and IPFW on Dec. 8. The BTDN will also air conference contests against Michigan (Jan. 15), Ohio State (Feb. 6) and Iowa (Feb. 16), making at least 13 of the 16 Big Ten Conference games for Purdue available to view outside of Mackey Arena.
Boilermaker All-Access is set to pick up a trio of home contests, first airing the game against Belmont on Nov. 22. The Boilermakers' back-to-back holiday-break contests against Bowling Green and Central Michigan on Dec. 22 and 28 will air on the web as well.
Information regarding the Boilermakers' road contests and potential web streams will be made available as it is received on the Purdue women's basketball schedule at PurdueSports.com and in game notes throughout the season. For more information on the BTN and BTDN visit BTN.com.
