WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Big Ten announced the 2017-18 women’s basketball conference schedule Wednesday, unveiling Purdue women’s basketball’s 16-game slate. The Boilermakers begin Big Ten competition Thursday, Dec. 28, heading to Rutgers, and host their first conference contest on New Year’s Eve (Sunday, Dec. 31), battling Wisconsin in Mackey Arena.
The Boilermakers continue to alternate road and home games to start the new year, opening 2018 at Indiana, before returning home to host Rutgers for their second contest vs. the Scarlet Knights in the first two weeks of the conference season. Purdue heads to Iowa, comes home to face Northwestern, turns around and goes west again to Nebraska and wraps up January with a home game against Penn State.
February opens with back-to-back road games at Michigan and Illinois before consecutive home games against Minnesota and Indiana, with the Feb. 12 contest against the Hoosiers having the Barn Burner Trophy on the line. Purdue has the co-defending Big Ten Champions in consecutive road games, heading to Maryland and then Ohio State, and then wraps up the regular season against Illinois and Michigan State in the senior day finale.
The Boilermakers will officially start practice in October, with an exhibition game slated for Sunday, Nov. 5, the season opener at Central Michigan on Friday, Nov. 10, and the home opener on Wednesday, Nov. 15 against Miami (Ohio).
