WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women's basketball team will begin its quest for another NCAA championship when it opens its 2003-04 season at home against Kansas State on Sunday, Nov. 16.

The match-up between the Boilermakers and Wildcats will be the second game of the 2003 State Farm Women's Tip-Off Classic, which will be played in Mackey Arena and televised on ESPN2. The first game of the doubleheader that will christen the 2003-04 season will feature Duke and Texas, two of last year's NCAA Women's Final Four teams.

One week later, on Nov. 23, Purdue will meet the Blue Devils in the Jimmy V Classic in Raleigh, N.C. The 1999 NCAA title game rematch will be televised on ESPN.

The Boilermakers will return home to face Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Tuesday, Nov. 25, then will spend Thanksgiving weekend in Orlando, Fla., while participating in the Golden Knights Classic. Purdue will play Wake Forest on Friday, Nov. 28, and will play host UCF on Saturday, Nov. 29.

Three more games away from Mackey Arena will follow, as Purdue will play at Valparaiso on Dec. 3, at Houston on Dec. 7, and against UCLA in the Boilermaker BlockBuster on Dec. 13. The BlockBuster game, which will be played at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, will be the first in a doubleheader with the Purdue men, who are scheduled to face Central Michigan.

After playing five games outside West Lafayette, the Boilermakers will return to Mackey Arena to play host to UC Santa Barbara on Friday, Dec. 19. Purdue then will take a break before closing out the bulk of its non-conference season with a road game at Western Michigan on Tuesday, Dec. 30.

On Sunday, Jan. 4, Purdue will welcome Notre Dame to Mackey Arena as part of the Big Ten/Big East Challenge. The game between the Boilermakers and Fighting Irish will be televised on ESPN2, starting at 3 p.m.

The Big Ten schedule will be released officially within the next two weeks.
