Purdue alumnae Katie Gearlds and Katie Douglas go head-to-head on Friday evening in WNBA action when the Seattle Storm plays its only game of the season at Conseco Fieldhouse against the Indiana Fever. The Fever has designated the evening as "Katie Gearlds' Night" which will feature an appearance by Gearlds after the game. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Gearlds, a 2007 graduate of Purdue is in her second year with the Storm, averaging 3.4 points and one rebound in 10.1 minutes per game. The 6-foot-1 forward earned third team Associated Press All-America accolades as a senior after becoming Purdue's fourth leading scorer all-time with 1,974 points. Gearlds holds the record for career three-pointers with 238. She also holds school records for minutes played (4,475), career free throw percentage (86.3) and points in a game (41). As a senior, Gearlds averaged 19.1 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.3 assists. Gearlds is from Beech Grove, Ind.

The Fever is hosting a postgame event with Gearlds that is limited to the first 200 people that purchase tickets through Zach Bonvillian at 317-917-2803 or zbonvillian@pacers.com. Ticket prices in the Purdue block are $12, $22 and $32. Every night in Conseco Fieldhouse is "Katie Douglas' Night after the seven-year WNBA veteran returned to her hometown of Indianapolis to begin her first season with the Fever. The 6-foot guard has started all 20 games and is averaging 16.7 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. The two-time WNBA All-Star was a member of Purdue's 1999 national championship team and is the school's only two-time All-American.

 

 

The Storm is 14-7 and is on a six-game win streak heading into Friday's game. The Fever's record is 10-10, after an 81-77 loss at home to the Atlanta Dream.
