WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The second annual Purdue women's basketball golf scramble sponsored by the BOILERmaker NETwork is quickly approaching. The event will be held Saturday, Aug. 17 at the Elks Country Club in West Lafayette, Ind.
Purdue head coach Sharon Versyp, assistant coaches Nadine Morgan, Christy Smith and Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton, supervisor of operations Terry Kix and current members of the team will be in attendance throughout the day to meet and greet the participants.
The driving range and putting green will open at10:30 a.m., for participants to warm up as well as to attempt to qualify for a 50/50 putting contest. Registration and the silent auction begin at 11a.m. Lunch, courtesy of Buck Creek Pizza will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and the shotgun start to the scramble is at 1 p.m.
The cost to play is $400 for each foursome or $100 for an individual golfer. Sponsorship opportunities also are available. The tournament is limited to 108 participants, so don't miss your chance to participate.
Prizes will be awarded for the longest drive, closest to the pin and closest to a fairway line for both the men and the women. Additionally, there will be a hole-in-one challenge on hole No. 17 for the chance to win a BMW 328xi courtesy of DeFouw BMW.
The day's activities will conclude with a dinner from The Outpost Catering, multiple door prizes, award presentations to the scramble and contest winners, plus the announcement of the silent auction winners. Tim Newton, the radio voice of Purdue women's basketball will serve as the master of ceremonies for the evening.
Alumni, fans and golf enthusiasts are welcome to check out the silent auction, which is open to the public from 1:15 to 5 p.m. Silent auction items must be paid for by cash or check only please.
