WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Perfect. Purdue's Sharika Webb dished out three assists and grabbed five rebounds in the Big Ten Women's Basketball Foreign Tour Team's 75-64 victory over the Southern District Spartans in Australia on Wednesday. The All-Stars finished their Down Under tour with an unblemished 4-0 record.
The All-Stars held a slim 40-36 lead at halftime against the Spartans, despite having owned an average halftime margin of 24 points in their three previous victories. The Big Ten outscored the Spartans 35-28 in the second half for the 11-point win. The conference team's three other wins came by an average of 37.3 points.
Indiana's Jenny DeMuth led the Big Ten team with 14 points, while Michigan State's Lindsay Bowen and Ohio State's Jessica Davenport added 13 apiece.
Over the four games, Webb, a 5-foot-9 guard, averaged a team-best 4.5 assists per game. She also contributed averages of 1.3 points and 5.0 rebounds.
The Big Ten Foreign Tour program, which began in 1992, has produced a record of 46-18 on 12 trips abroad. In its last two trips, in 2002 and 2004, the All-Stars have gone a perfect 9-0.
The All-Stars are expected to return to home early Thursday evening.
