WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue senior forward Sam Ostarello was named Big Ten Player of the Week after helping the Boilermakers to an 82-75 triple overtime win against Ohio State on Monday. Ostarello recorded 22 points, tied her career high with 19 rebounds and set a career high with eight blocked shots against the Buckeyes. It was the most blocks by a Boilermaker since Danielle Campbell set the school record with 11 against Butler on Nov. 17, 2007.
The Fort Pierre, S.D., native played a career-high 51 of 55 minutes and added three steals and three assists, while converting a career-best 10-of-12 free throws in Purdue's third-straight overtime contest.
It is the first conference weekly honor for Ostarello and Purdue's second of the season. KK Houser was named Big Ten Player of the Week on Dec. 3.
