WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - KK Houser scored 17 points, leading four Purdue players in double figures, and the 21st-ranked Boilermakers beat South Carolina-Upstate 82-47 Saturday night.

Twelve of Houser's 17 points came from three-pointers, a career high mark for threes for the redshirt junior.

Drey Mingo added 15 points and Courtney Moses and Taylor Manuel contributed 12 points apiece for Purdue in its season opener. The Boilermakers led 38-25 at halftime in the first meeting between the schools.

Twelve Boilermakers saw playing time tonight, and in addition to Manuel, freshmen Hayden Hamby and April Wilson added six points apiece.

Purdue got off to a slow start in the game, trailing 11-10 with 11:33 left in the first half, but a 9-2 run put the Boilermakers ahead 19-13 and they would not trail again.

Tee'Ara Copney was the only Spartans player in double figures, with 16 points. Purdue outrebounded SC-Upstate 41-26.

Beginning at tonight's game and continuing through the contest on Dec. 21, the Purdue women's basketball team will be collecting breakfast cereal at home games for its Boiler Crunch Cereal Drive. The Boilermakers are coordinating the cereal food drive in conjunction with the Food Finders Backpack Program to alleviate childhood hunger in the greater Lafayette area.

Purdue has a week break before traveling to Edwardsville, Ill., to take on the SIUE Cougars on Nov. 17 at 8 p.m. ET.
