Pam Stackhouse is in her third season at Purdue. She coaches the
guards; coordinates recruiting of high school freshmen and
sophomores, scheduling and team travel; and is the liaison with the
academic services staff.
Stackhouse came to Purdue after coaching at Louisiana Tech during the
1995-96 season. Her duties with the Lady Techsters, who were 31-2,
won the Sun Belt Conference championship and advanced to the NCAA
Tournament EliteEight, included recruiting and scouting, as well as
on-the-floor coaching and a variety of administrative
responsibilities. Louisiana Tech was ranked No. 1 in the Associated
Press poll for 15 of 18 weeks.
"I am extremely thankful to have someone like 'Stack' on my staff,"
head coach Carolyn Peck says. "She works so well with our players on
and off the court, does a great job keeping in touch with our
academic staff and is tremendous with the thankless job of team
travel. She is an excellent detail person with strong administrative
and people skills."
Before joining the collegiate coaching ranks, Stackhouse worked for
four years in Louisiana Tech's academic advising center. She was part
of the reason that Louisiana Tech athletes became one of the Sun Belt
leaders in graduation rates. Stackhouse also worked the Lady
Techsters' basketball camps.
Stackhouse's other coaching experience includes four years at
Mermentau Junior High School in Louisiana from 1981-85.
"I'm excited about being at Purdue because it has such a wonderful
blend of top-notch academics and athletics," Stackhouse says. "It's
also great to be in the Big Ten, which I consider the premier
conference in this country. I like the makeup of our staff because we
complement each other so well. Our goal is to win a national
championship, and I look forward to continuing on that quest this
season."
The 36-year-old Stackhouse is a 1991 graduate of Louisiana Tech with
a bachelor's degree in health and physical education. She received
her master's in counseling from Louisiana Tech in 1993. Stackhouse is
a native of Jennings, La. Her interests include golf, reading, music,
running, outdoor activities and spending time with her 1-year-old
Yorkshire terrier, Zach.
