Wrestling Signs 4 to Class of 2018
Nov. 21, 2017

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue head wrestling coach Tony Ersland continues to bring in nationally ranked talent by signing a pair of top-100 recruits to his class of 2018. Ersland has now inked nine top-100 recruits in his four years at the helm.

“We continue to increase the depth and competitiveness of the wrestlers in our room,” Ersland said. “The notoriety goes to those that are nationally ranked, however these four young men will be tremendous additions to our roster. Young wrestlers are recognizing the trajectory of our program and want to be a part of it.”

The four signees hail from Indiana, Illinois and Ohio with resumes littered with national and state honors: a top-10 170-pounder and Ohio high school state champion and a pair of top-20 wrestlers at 145 and 195 pounds.

“Since we are only graduating two off our roster, this year’s signing class was more about filling needs and getting the right kind of young men,” Ersland said. “This class has a good mixture of fulfilling needs and bringing in high-quality student-athletes.”
