Purdue wrestling has saved its best for last. Mackey Mayhem returns Friday as the No. 22 Boilermakers take on No. 19 Northwestern in the home finale. Seniors Jacob Morrissey and Luke Welch will wrestle one last time on their home mat and live on the Big Ten Network. Action from Mackey Arena is set for a 7 p.m. ET start, with senior recognition to follow at the conclusion of the dual. There is no admission charge for Mackey Mayhem.

It is the second consecutive season wrestling has taken a dual to Mackey Arena. Powered behind a Morrissey upset and a Christian Brunner major decision, Purdue defeated Indiana 19-12 in the first dual at Mackey Arena in a dozen years.

Mackey Arena was wrestling's home venue through the 1983-84 season. The following season home duals moved to the newly constructed Intercollegiate Athletics Facility, now Holloway Gymnasium, which was built in 1982. Before moving to their new home facility, the Boilermakers won their final regular season dual at Mackey Arena, going out with a 39-15 win over Indiana on Feb. 7, 1984.

• Friday's dual marks the 89th all-time meeting in a series that dates to 1921 ... it is the tied with Illinois for the second-most meetings among all-time opponents ... the Boilermakers have taken a 45-41-2 advantage in the series thanks to three straight wins.

• Purdue is 20-16-1 when wrestling Northwestern on its home mat ... the Wildcats last visit to West Lafayette saw an unranked Boilermaker squad knock off 19th-ranked NU 22-12 (1/16/2015) ... Northwestern's last win in the series was a 21-18 showing in West Lafayette (1/29/2012).

• It is just the fifth time in the series' history that both teams enter the dual nationally ranked ... the last time both teams were ranked was Feb. 4, 2011 ... Purdue was ranked 24th while NU was ranked 17th.

• Thanks to their dominating wins last weekend, the Boilermakers received 26 more points and climbed two spots to No. 22 in the USA Today/NWCA Coaches Poll.

• For the first time since the 2012-13 season, Purdue has four ranked wrestlers in its lineup ... Camden Eppert (125), Cashé Quiroga (133), Ivan Lopouchanski (149) and Braden Atwood (197) were ranked for the entire season.

• With wins over two-time NCAA qualifier Javier Gasca of Michigan State and an upset of Indiana's then-13th-ranked Cole Weaver, Nate Limmex garnered his first national ranking this week, debuting at No. 16 ... Limmex has three wins over ranked opponents, including a top-10 win against then-No. 9 Chad Red of Nebraska ... Danny Sabatello was the last ranked 141-pounder, closing out the 2015-16 season at No. 20

Dylan Lydy moved up to No. 11 in the 174-pound rankings with his 8-5 win over then-No. 18 Devin Skatzka of Indiana ... it's the highest ranking of the season for Lydy, the highest individual ranking of the season for Purdue and the highest ranking for a Boilermaker since Chad Welch finished the 2015-16 season at No. 8 ... Shawn Streck (285) held steady for a fifth week at No. 15 ... Luke Welch (125) dropped four slots to No. 17 after his loss to unranked Rayvon Foley of Michigan State.

• Lydy has started 30 consecutive duals dating to Nov. 13, 2016 ... Jacob Morrissey has started 24 consecutive duals dating to Dec. 19, 2016 ... Nate Limmex has started 22 consecutive duals dating to Jan. 13, 2017.

• Purdue has used 11 different lineups in its 14 duals ... 125 has been the starting weight in all but three duals (Nebraska - 184, Illinois - 133, Indiana - 285) ... Limmex, Morrissey, Lydy and Streck have started every dual this season ... Welch and Devin Schroder (LIU Post, Nebraska) have combined for the most dual points in a weight class with 48, sporting a 12-2 record with six decisions, two major decisions, two technical falls and one forfeit received ... with an 11-2 overall dual record, Ben Thornton leads the way with 42 dual points scored (6 D, 1 MD, 2 TF, 1 F).

• Two weights are slated to feature battles between ranked wrestlers ... at 125, it's likely to be 17th-ranked Luke Welch going up against Wildcat rookie and No. 10 Sebastian Rivera ... No. 11 Dylan Lydy will be eyeing revenge against No. 19 Johnny Sebastian ... the 174-pound Boilermaker had a 3-2 lead on Sebastian late in the third period of a wrestleback match at the Michigan State Open, but with just three seconds remaining, Sebastian took Lydy straight down and pinned him as time expired.
