Boilers Stun Illinois
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The 17th-ranked Purdue wrestling team upset No. 8 Illinois 18-13 in Champaign, Ill., on Saturday. The Boilers won six of the first seven matches en route to their seventh dual meet victory of the season. "This was a great win for us," head coach Jessie Reyes said. "We were in great shape, and our guys got to see just how their hard work pays off. We needed a great team effort to beat a top-10 team at their place, and that is exactly what we got today." Senior Tim Dernlan started the Boilermakers off with a 7-3 win over Steve Dorrier at 118 pounds.
Junior Josh Hutchens picked up his 14th victory of the season, defeating Carl Perry 9-7 in overtime at 126 pounds.
