Boilers Dominate at Ohio State Duals
The Purdue wrestling team picked up two victories at the Ohio State Duals in Columbus, Ohio, on Saturday. The Boilermakers defeated No. 21 Ohio State 19-13 and Ohio University 26-10. The meet took on a different format with the 158-pound class wrestling first and the 150-pound class last.
Against Ohio State, the Boilermakers led by two points going into the final match and needed a victory at 150 pounds to defeat the Buckeyes. Junior Willie Wineberg responded with an impressive 15-6 win over Dan DiCesare. Senior Tim Dernlan beat OSU's Matt Fratta 4-0 at 118 pounds while senior Eric Douglas defeated Peter Rogers 4-2 at 158 pounds. Junior Josh Hutchens (134) and David Pierce (Hwt.) were also victorious for the Boilers. Purdue used three overtime victories to defeat Ohio University later in the day, with Dernlan and Wimeberg both picking up victories. The Boilermakers will take on Missouri in Columbia, Mo., on Dec. 21.
