Men's Tennis to Host Big Ten Singles Championships

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue men's tennis team will play host to the Big Ten Singles Championships at the Schwartz Tennis Center and Lafayette Sports Center Oct. 25-28. Seven Boilermakers will be competing in the tournament that features 11 of the 12 conference programs. Lucas Dages will take to the court first as action gets underway Friday at 8 a.m. ET. One round of singles will be contested Friday, followed by two rounds of doubles starting at 4:15 p.m. All of Purdue's matches Friday will take place at the Schwartz Tennis Center.

A pair of Purdue players received a seed in the Singles Main Draw. Third-seeded Szymon Tatarczyk is set to face Chase Tomlins of Iowa at 11:30 a.m. and Mark Kovacs, who was tabbed a 5-9 seed, will take on Penn State's Matt Barry at 11:15 a.m.

At 9:15 a.m., Mateus Silva and Diego Acosta will be in action. Silva will meet fourth-seeded Shaun Bemstein of Michigan, while Acosta takes on Northwestern's Fedor Baev. Freshman Matt Bouggy will be on the court at the same time as Tatarczyk, battling fifth-seeded Dusty Boyer of Nebraska. Aaron Dujovne rounds out the Boilermakers' roster and awaits the winner of the Mac Roy of Michigan State and Northwestern's Alp Horoz play-in match for a 1:45 p.m. contest.


 

 

The freshmen tandem of Bouggy and Dages open doubles competition in the Round of 32 at 4:15 p.m. against Shaun Bernstein and Kevin Wong of Michigan. Acosta and Dujovne follow at 4:45 p.m. with Michigan State's Harry Jadun and Gijs Linders. Silva and Tatarczyk will be a part of the Round of 32's final wave, taking to the court at 5:45 p.m. with Kellen Bates and Dimitrije Tasic of Indiana.

The four-day tournament features a 64-player Singles Main Draw with three play-in matches and a 32-team Doubles Main Draw.
