Men's Tennis Headed To Regionals

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue men's tennis team is headed to Knoxville, Tenn., for the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships this weekend hosted by the University of Tennessee. The bracket was announced late Wednesday night and eight Boilermakers are in the main draw.

Mark Kovacs earned the No. 12 seed in the singles draw and he is scheduled to play against Brandon Fickey of Tennessee at 8:30 a.m. ET at the Knoxville Racquet Club. Pawel Poziomski is also scheduled to play his first match at the KRC and will face Arthur Valle of Murray State at 10:30 a.m. Krisztian Krocsko earned the No. 17 overall seed and will face Zane Smith of Ball State at the KRC at 10:30.

Diego Acosta is playing a 12:30 p.m. match at the KRC against Taylor Patrick of Tennessee. Billy Heuer has a tough draw against the No. 31 seed, Edward Jones at 1:30 p.m. at the KRC. Aaron Dujovne earned the No. 19 seed and will play at 8:30 a.m. at the Goodfriend Tennis Center on the University of Tennessee's campus against Jarryd Chaplin of Tennessee.

Szymon Tatarczyk earned the No. 15 seed and will play against Rogeiro Ribeiro of East Tennessee State at 10:30 a.m. at the GTC. Evan Hawkins will play at 12:30 p.m. against Robin Akser of East Tennessee State at the GTC.

In doubles play, Dujovne and Tatarczyk will team up to play against East Tennessee State's Akser and Ribeiro at 2 p.m. from the GTC. Heuer and Poziomski will play together against Maks Gold and Ryoj Hirooka of Kentucky at 2:30 p.m. from the KRC. Acosta and Kovacs will play Gonzales Austin and Blake Bazamik of Vanderbilt at 2:00 at the KRC. Hawkins and Krocsko play against Alex Brym and Austin Smith of Ball State at 3:30 p.m. at the KRC.
