WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue men's tennis doubles team of senior David Robinson and junior Paul Rose lost at the Icy Hot/ITA-All-American Championships in Chattanooga, Tenn., on Wednesday.

Robinson and Rose, who began the qualifying draw with two consecutive wins, bowed out in the round of 16 with an 8-4 loss to the 23rd-ranked and second-seeded team of Scott Doerner and Pedro Rico of Pepperdine.

Robinson and Rose still are hopeful for an at-large bid to the main draw. The Boilermakers may gain entrance as "lucky losers," as they were one of the highest teams to finish out of the money in qualifying. Spots may open up in the main draw of 32 depending upon defaults and injuries.

The main draw begins Thursday morning.
