There, he dominated the first set, 6-1, before falling in the second, 6-4. In the third, though, Acosta returned to his strong tennis and won 6-0. Next, Acosta faced Ross Vanderploeg of Western Michigan in the quarterfinals. Acosta started slow and lost the first set, 6-4. From there, though, he rallied. In the second set, the sophomore won 6-2 before a heated third set where Acosta won 6-4. The Ecuadorian will play Zack Mueck of Xavier at 9 a.m. ET in the semifinals on Sunday.

Kovacs had a smoother route to the semis than Acosta. The junior knocked off Austin Woldmoe of Butler in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2. Kovacs faced Tomas Stillman of Toledo in the quarterfinals. There, the Hungarian dominated the first set, 6-3, before holding on in the second set, 7-6 (4). Kovacs will face Michael Tenzer of Green Bay at 9 a.m.

Aaron Dujovne also played in the singles `A' draw on Saturday. Dujovne knocked off Matt Kuelker of Cleveland State, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1, before facing Tenzer. Tenzer held on to beat the junior, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4. Dujovne and Acosta withdrew from the doubles tournament by way of a walkover and therefore did not face Woldmoe and Weldon of Butler.
