Swan Signs with Purdue Men's Tennis

Head coach Tim Madden has announced that Dan Swan (Okemos, Mich., Okemos H.S.) has signed a National Letter of Intent to play tennis for Purdue starting in 1997-98.

"Dan is a perfect fit for our team," said Madden. "I expect that he will come in and be competitive in the bottom half of our lineup. He has an excellent attitude and personality. He is exactly the kind of young man that every coach wants to have around."

Swan, who is playing his final season of spring tennis, was Class A All-State in Michigan as a sophomore and a junior. Okemos was two-time team champions in Michigan in 1994 and 1995. Swan has been ranked nationally as a junior at B-16 and B-18. He also was selected for the Sportsmanship Award at the National Zone Team Championships.

"I chose Purdue because of Coach Madden, the type of players that he recruits and the direction of the program. I relate very well with all of the other players and Purdue is one of the most improved programs."

Swan, an honors student at Okemos, plans to study in the School of Management.
