Jamie Gordon of Men's Tennis Named April Athlete-of-the-Month

Jamie Gordon (Burlington, Ontario, Nelson H.S.), a junior on Purdue's men's tennis team, was named Male Athlete-of-the-Month for his outstanding performances throughout April. The award is sponsored by WLFI-TV and Twin City Dodge-Chrysler-Plymouth.
Gordon's biggest win came against Oliver Freelove of 6th-ranked Illinois. Gordon topped the 41st-ranked player in the nation, 6-4, 6-4. The win was Purdue's only of the match and one of five Gordon won in a row.
He also defeated David Paradzik of Michigan, 6-3, 1-6, 6-4, helping Purdue to a 4-3 win, giving the Boilermakers the No. 3 seed entering the Big Ten tournament, May 1-3 at Illinois.
During April, Gordon, ranked 91st nationally in singles competition, posted a 6-2 singles record and an 8-0 doubles record. On the season, he has 25 wins and has posted an 8-2 singles record in conference action.
