Mercer was named Big Ten Women's Swimmer of the Week for the second time in her career. Bujoczek was recognized as the Big Ten Men's Freshman of the Week.
Mercer swept the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle sprints and also contributed to a Purdue win in the 400 free relay. Bujoczek won the 200 free, finished as the runner-up in the 500 free and swam on the Boilers' top 400 free relay team for the first time, helping the quartet place second.
Mercer remained unbeaten in individual events this season, increasing her season total for individual victories to nine. The senior helped lead the Boilers to dual meet wins against No. 19 Ohio State and Northwestern, as Purdue improved to 4-0 in dual action this year. She posted Purdue season-best times in the 100 (49.71) and 200 free (1:48.07). Her split of 50.07 while leading off the victorious 400 free relay was tops for Purdue and second best in the entire race.
Bujoczek posted a win and a second-place finish for the second Friday in a row, flip-flopping his showings in the 200 and 500 free versus the Nov. 1 dual win against Notre Dame. His time of 1:38.48 while winning the 200 free Friday was a Purdue season-best mark. The Poland native's split of 44.90 in the 400 free relay was second to only Danny Tucker's anchor time. Bujoczek helped the No. 22 Boilers post dual meet results against No. 21 and Northwestern, recording a victory against a Top 25 team for the second weekend in a row.
Mercer was also honored as the Big Ten Swimmer of the Week on Nov. 20, 2012, after helping lead the Boilers to victory at the seven-team Purdue Invitational. Jamie Bissett (Oct. 22) and Michelle Cabassol (Oct. 29) have been named the Big Ten Diver of the Week this year as well.
Bujoczek joins Guillermo Blanco, Danny Conway, Layne Rogers and Bissett as active Boilers to win Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors since it was added to the weekly awards program midway through the 2011-12 campaign.
