WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Olympic gold medalist diver David Boudia will be the latest former Purdue student-athlete to have a sandwich named in his honor added to the menu at the nostalgic local diner, Triple XXX Restaurant, near campus.

"The Boudia" is a three-cheese sandwich featuring two strips of apple wood smoked bacon and sliced tomato on grilled sesame seed bun. The featured cheeses are American, Swiss and Philadelphia cream cheese. The sandwich is partnered with hash browns topped with Triple XXX's signature sausage gravy.

"The Boudia" will be launched on Wednesday, June 26, at 4:30 p.m., at the Triple XXX Restaurant on the corner of Salisbury and State Streets in West Lafayette. Boudia will be on hand along with family and fans for the unveiling of the new sandwich. The public is invited to the restaurant for the sandwich's debut.

Boudia is the seventh former Purdue student-athlete to have a menu item named in his honor at Triple XXX. However, he's the first non-football player to be featured on the menu. A cheeseburger named after mascot Purdue Pete is also on the menu and a burger named after recent football standout Ryan Kerrigan is in the works as well.

Triple XXX has been a local landmark since 1929 and is Indiana's oldest drive-in. It drew the attention of the Food Network's "Diners, Drive-ins & Dives" in its inaugural season. One of Triple XXX's sandwiches was featured in the Best Indiana Sandwich competition during Super Bowl XLVI, which was hosted by the city of Indianapolis.

Boudia won two medals at the 2012 Olympic Games, including gold in the 10-meter platform. He was a six-time NCAA Champion and three-time Purdue Male Athlete of the Year during his three seasons competing for the Boilermakers. He'll look to medal again at the FINA World Championships when he travels to Barcelona next month. In 2011, Boudia won silver at the World Championships in China to set the stage for his Olympic heroics a year later.
