WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Led by the individual invitations earned by Danny Tucker and Lyam Dias, six Purdue men's swimmers have learned they will have an opportunity to represent the Boilermakers at the NCAA Championships later this month at the three-day meet in Indianapolis.

Tucker and Dias both owned individual times that ranked among the top 29 nationally in their respective events. Purdue also had qualifying times in four relays events - the 200 and 400 freestyle as well as the 200 and 400 medley relays. Chuck Destro, Matt Friede and Benjamin Ziolkowski will team with Tucker to comprise the Boilers' freestyle relay foursomes. Stephen Seliskar and Destro will join Tucker and Dias on the medley relay teams.

Divers earn their NCAA berths based on their performances at the Zone Championships. Purdue is hosting the Zone C meet this this week (March 14-16) at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center.

The national championship meet invitations for the women's swimmers were announced last week. The Purdue women also had two individual qualifiers as well as three relays earn berths (six swimmers total).

Tucker's time of 19.35 in the 50 free at the Big Ten Championships ranked seventh nationally. His school-record time of 42.84 in the 100 free was good for 16th in the country. Dias qualified with his time of 1:55.31 in the 200 breaststroke, which ranked 18th. He'll also have the option of racing the 100 breast (54.54, 42nd) and 200 IM (1:45.31, 33rd) after posting provisional-qualifying times this season.

Nationally, Purdue's top times in the 200 (1:18.05) and 400 free (2:54.37) relays ranked 13th and 20th, respectively. The Boilers' best showings in the 200 (1:27.16) and 400 medley (3:11.12) relays ranked 29th and 25th, respectively.

Friede, Tucker and Ziolkowski are headed back to the NCAA Championships for the second year in a row. They qualified as part of Purdue's record-setting 200 free relay team with Ben Wachtel last season. They earned Honorable Mention All-America recognition when the 200 free relay team qualified for the consolation final at NCAAs. They also raced individually in the 50 free a year ago at the national championship meet.

Destro and Seliskar will be making their first appearances at the NCAA Championships. Destro will swim the butterfly leg on the medley relays and Seliskar will handle the leadoff backstroke leg. Seliskar earned a berth as a freshman.

The men's NCAA Championships are set for March 28-30 at the IU Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI in Indianapolis.
