Purdue's Koh Advances to Finals
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.--Sophomore Gerald Koh placed 24th in the finals of the 400-meter individual medley with a time 4:42.83 Friday at the U.S. Open swimming championships in Indianapolis. Koh swam a 4:38.42 in the preliminaries to advance to the finals. "Gerald had some good swims today," assistant coach Mike Keeler said. Koh finished 10 seconds behind U.S. Olympian Tom Dolan, who finished first with a time of 4:28.89.
Other Boilermakers in action included Marisa Watts, who finished 35th in the women's 400-meter individual medley with a time of 5:07.22 and Jen Alden, who posted a time of 1:09.17 in the 100 backstroke.
The U.S. Open continues Saturday where junior standout Vilmos Kovacs will swim the 200-meter breaststroke, while Watts will swim the 800-meter freestyle.
