19th Ranked Boilermakers Edge Brown, 132-110

PROVIDENCE, R.I.--The 19th ranked men's swim team squeezed out a 132-110 victory over Brown Friday night as they improved their record to 3-0 on the season.

Junior All-American Vilmos Kovacs again sparked the Boilermakers by placing first in the 200 breaststroke (2:01.78) and posting a season-best time of 1:52.32 in the 200 butterfly. Kovacs also joined the victorious 400 medley relay team which included Gerald Koh, Kirk Larsen and Mike Ullom as they posted a season-best time of 3:25.68.

The 400 freestyle relay team of Larsen, Kevin Cornehl, Ross Croasdell and Frank Smardo placed first with a time of 3:06.00. "Our relay teams went out and swam well against a tough opponent," head coach Dan Ross said. Ullom also touched first in the 100 freestyle (47.13) while Koh grabbed first in the 200 individual medley (1:55.31). Freshman Matt Martin posted a season-best time of 4:41.20 in the 500 freestyle as he finished first in that event and the 1000 freestyle. Jason Ozias finished second in the 200 individual medley and third in the 200 breaststroke. "This was a very good meet, our guys competed well and got the job done," Ross continued. "We spent all day travelling, but the guys didn't give any excuses."

The men continue action Sunday at noon against 18th ranked Harvard in Cambridge, Mass.
