Purdue junior Vilmos Kovacs and four of his teammates were in action today on day two of the men's NCAA swimming and diving Championships hosted by Auburn University.
Kovacs placed 27th in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 55.85. A year ago, he placed seventh in that event en route to All-America honors. He also swam with the 200 medley relay team which included Mike Ullom, Frank Smardo and Kirk Larsen. The group finished 18th in a time of 1:31.84.
With six points, Purdue stands in 31st place with two events remaining on day two of competition.
Kovacs will swim the 200 breaststroke tomorrow, an event he placed 3rd in at NCAA's last year. Ullom and Larsen will swim the 100 freestyle and join Smardo and David Weis to swim the 400 freestyle relay. Action begins tomorrow with prelims at 11 a.m.
