AUBURN, Ala. - The men's NCAA swimming and diving championships began today at Auburn University. Purdue's 200 freestyle relay team of Frank Smardo, David Weis, Kirk Larsen and Mike Ullom finished 14th in the finals in a time of 1:20.95, scoring six points.
Purdue is in a tie for 26th place (of 28 teams) with six points.
In other action, Vilmos Kovacs posted a time of 1:50.11 in the 200 individual medley, placing 36th. Smardo also swam the 50 freestyle and placed 54th with a time of 20.52.
